How do I use my red light panel?

We recommend starting with shorter sessions in the beginning. Most people who are new to red light therapy start with 10 minute sessions. You can start with anywhere from 12” to 36” away or more from the panel. Our lights have a 20 minute default timer with a beep half way through at 10 minutes. Be consistent to see and feel results. Everybody is different. Some people feel the effects while they use the lights, others feel a difference the day after. You should use the light a minimum of 3 days per week. You may work your way up to everyday use and even twice a day. The amount of time you spend in front of the light is really dependent on what you’re using it for. If you are using the RemedyLED Pro1500 light for anti-aging use it 12” to 36” away. Our lights have lenses that give you the ability to not have to be touching or very close to the lights. If you are using the RemedyLED Pro1500 for joints, muscle recovery, bone etc., you may want to be 12” - 24” away to achieve deeper penetration. If you are using the RemedyLED Pro300, you may feel comfortable at 6” away. Example: RemedyLED Pro300 -shining the light on a knee or wrist, etc. 6”-12” away. If you stand or sit further away, you will cover a larger area of the body but a longer session may be required. The further away you are, the faster the energy from the light decreases but you are still receiving light. Remember the inverse square law- as the distance from a point source increases, the irradiance decreases. We use our lights from 6” (RemedyLED 300) to 36” away (RemedyLED 1500) and usually for 20 to 30 minutes. Experiment until you find your most comforting, luxurious experience. We dont rush our sessions, we enjoy them. Remember this is not heat therapy, it is light therapy. The goal is not to sweat. It is very comfortable to be approximately 24” away from the light panel. Your comfort is the key to consistency. Consistency is the key to seeing or feeling results. Start slow with shorter session times, and a furthur distance from the lights. Be consistent and work your way up to longer sessions or experiment with different distances.

The center of the panel, is where you will feel the most heat. The light is also most concentrated there because you receive light from more angles at once. If you are hot, you are too close. Being warm is fine. Some people like to feel warmer… this is also fine. The lights increase circulation over time, so you may vary your distance as you continue on your healing and maintenance journey. We cant say it enough: be comfortable.

The larger panel like our 1500 model, or when using more than one at a time, will give off more heat. Keep that in mind when using your panel(s) and adjust to your comfort level. Our opinion is that of “slow and steady”… further distance /longer sessions …

Which size panel should you use?

The size of our panels is the number of LED’s each panel has. You can increase your coverage area with a larger panel. It’s entirely up to you and your budget and goals. You can target your face with the tabletop size, our RemedyLED Pro300. It’s also good for targeting the lower back, or for knee pain, wrist pain, etc. The tabletop panel is easily portable and you can take it anywhere. Ask us about how you can make your own carrying case to protect the light if you travel with it. The RemedyLED Pro1500 covers a lot more area of the body with light. You may want to lie down next to it or under it, to have a nice relaxing session. The more skin that is exposed to the light, the shorter your sessions may be as more mitochondria are activated and communicating together at once.

The RemedyLED Pro300 and Pro1500 are our most popular models.

Do you need to wear the goggles?

We recommend wearing the goggles to protect your eyes from the bright lights. Never stare directly at the lights. You may receive indirect light at a distance. Some people are comfortable with just closing their eyes. The center of any of our panels will be where the highest light intensity is due to the way the lenses assist the light in converging. Larger panels give off more energy, light and warmth.

How long before I notice results?

The amount of time will vary from person to person. For a targeted pain treatment you may feel results within a few days or even possibly the following day, or with consistent use you may feel relief from pain within a week to ten days. Why cant we give a direct answer? Everyone has a different tolerance for pain. If you’ve been in pain for a long time it may take a little longer to notice your results. If it’s an acute injury your dealing with, you may notice relief much more quickly. Remember this is not some pain pill or an instant miracle worker. The light delivering photons to the body, activates your own mitochondrial function (increases mitochondria ) and boosts function in your cells. For skin, scars, or anti-aging, it may take a little longer to notice results - a few weeks to a couple months. Your age and the severity of what your treating plays a role in how long it may take.

Who should not use red light therapy?

Red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, may not be ideal for people who are taking photo-sensitizing medications or people who have lupus. Our lights are not just red light therapy. Our lights use both red light and near infrared light. Red light therapy cannot be overdone by most people. There are no UV light rays emitted from our panels, so keep that in mind when you are making your own choice about trying red and near-infrared light therapy. If you are prone to seizures or are pregnant, red light therapy may not be for you. Always consult with your doctor in regards to your health concerns.

Should I put anything on my skin before red light therapy?

Skin should be clean. No oils, lotions, or the like. Bare skin is best for the best results.

Remember to take normal precautions the same as you would with any other electrical appliance.

Don’t get the panels wet.

Don’t stare at the lights. If you look at them, you may see spots for a short time.

If your skin feels hot, you are probably too close.
